In a recent strategic move, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has announced the integration of its Oryx and Origami services. This consolidation results in an enhanced Origami Service, establishing a direct shipping link between key Asian markets—including Japan, South Korea, China, and Singapore—and the East African nations of Tanzania and Kenya.
The inaugural sailing on the new rotation will be performed by the vessel MSC General IV (voyage JL546A), which is set to depart from Tokyo on 9 November 2025.
By offering a direct connection, the enhanced route is expected to deliver greater supply chain efficiencies and facilitate new business opportunities, particularly for key sectors such as automotive, electronics, chemicals, and construction materials in the connected regions.
The updated port rotation for the enhanced Origami Service is as follows:
Tokyo → Yokohama → Yokkaichi → Nagoya → Busan → Ningbo → Singapore → Mombasa → Dar es Salaam → Singapore → Kaohsiung → Busan → Tokyo
